In the late 1960's, Loren "Sonny" Paullus, along with his family, dreamed of converting the Paullus Turkey Farm into a lush, green golf course.
A group of nearby property owners, plus some friends, got together with "Sonny" and in 1971 created Ridgemark Corporation, the developer of this Ridgemark Complex. The original directors of the corporation were "Sonny" Paullus, Ray Sabbatini, George Shore, Dave Rosati, Don Gomes, Bruce Dunning, Sr., and Meredith "Brick" Hagins. They were soon joined by Frank Sabbatini and Everst Lanini, and later by Joe Schmidt, Brook Schmidt, Randy Schmidt, and George Duffin. Ridgemark Corporation Golf Course opened for business in 1972.
This group of visionaries, under the leadership of "Sonny" Paullus, made the investments and decisions necessary to create what is now R.G.&C.C., Inc. and Ridgemark Estates, which includes two 18 Hole Championship golf courses designed by Richard Bigler, a Tennis Complex, two clubhouses with restaurant and lounge facilities, guest accommodations, plus approximately 1,000 family residences incorporated around the golf courses.
Ridgemark was a name derived from the ridge upon which the property is located and "Sonny's" only son, Mark, who was killed, tragically, in an accident during the planning stage of the project.
In addition to providing recreation to members, their guests, and the public annually several thousand people now reside in one of California's Central Coast's great golfing communities.
On August 1, 1990 the Club Members purchased the Club from the original corporation and created R.G.&C.C., Inc., dba Ridgemark Golf and Country Club.
